Back in Indy

Christmas is over?
Wow did time fly by! We got back last night around 5 and were suppose to be in around 1! We got stuck in Chicago for a while due to ice and then sat on the plane for a good hour or so while they were deicing the plane. We landed in Indiana and then had to drive home in the snow. Needless to say it was pretty white snow :)

I got some very good gifts and am blessed to have been able to travel to see family and spend it with Jaydun. I got The softest Nike Fleece with matching gloves, braveheart the movie, enya the cd, some workout clothes, trader joes gift card!, the rest of our china from our registry, and plenty more.
We are still unpacking, due to our lazyness last night. I am about to put in the laundry and clean up around here.
General Tso's again for dinner. Jaydun cannot get enough!
I have to say my favorite eats over the trip were sweet potatoes!
We went to see the movie Avatar in the Raleigh Imax theater and it was amazing! I loved it and I had no clue what it was going to be about.
Jaydun and I both agreed to buy it on dvd when it came out :)

I took a big break from all activity on vacation and this morning felt SO GOOD to get back into it! Took bodypump and then tonight we are going to do circuits :)

I will post pictures later...until then I am cleanin up this joint!

New Do!

Just got back from running errands and a HAIRCUT!
It is a change and I like it!

She styled it and thinned it out a TON. If you didnt know my hair is THICK. Literally half of my hair was on the ground!
I ended up buying a product for the 1st time. It is called Tenacious by Benniefactor and it is to sculp the hair...she talked me into it (will probably last me years!)
I went to Old Navy after and got some great deals (especially 1 dollar cozy socks!)
Now I am about to make General tsos chicken for Jaydun and get all warm and cozy in here because its snowing and cold!

KIND Giveaway!

1. Name an act of kindness that you love to do over the holidays.

plenty of WHOLE grains

I cannot believe that next week is already Christmas...and we fly out to North Carolina in 6 days!

So a couple of things to update on:
First, GRAINS:
1. Quinoa
2. Amaranth (never had it or heard of it!)
3. Buckwheat groats
4. Bulgar (amazing recipe posting)

Beans with Pesto Bulgar

1 can great northern or cannellini beans (drained and rinsed)
1 1/3 cups veggie or chix broth (fat free/ low sodium if available)
2/3 cup bulgar wheat
3/4 cup chopped red sweet red pepper (1 medium)
1/4 cup sliced green onions (2)
1/3 cup refrigerated pesto sauce (make your own or buy pre-made)

1. In medium pan, bring broth to boil; add bulgar. Return to boil; reduce heat and simmer, covered, for about 15 mins or until most of the liquid is absorbed. Remove from heat.

2. Meanwhile, drain and rinse beans and chop pepper and onions. In another medium pan, warm beans, pepper, onion, and pesto to serving temp. This should all take just about as long as the bulgar. Then throw it all together, add some ground black pepper, and enjoy. Yum Yum!!! Super healthy, easy, and good.

5. Barley
6. Millet
7. Brown Rice, Wheat Berries
8. Oatmeal
Why is Oatmeal #8.... Probably because it is not a complete protein like Quinoa
BUT as you all probably know it is the most SATISFYING breakfast (or any meal) and has fiber and whole grains and with anything added, super yummy!

Next up is the 7 Spices that are SUPER spices :)
Hint...one is CINNAMON!

So i received 2 boxes yesterday :)

One was from NuNaturals (all with natural sweetener) Stevia.....Plenty to bake with and not have to add sugar! I am going to post some baking recipes this weekend for the holidays :) BISCOTTI! Yum yum.

The other box was from Bora Bora Foods
They sent an organic shirt (which I will sport tomorrow and take pictures) a tiki mug and BARS! I opened up the Exotic Coconut Almond. delicious.

As for me. Today I am stiff as a board! I taught Total tone and Cardio Circuit yesterday and way too many lunges, squats, mt climbers, army drops, speed drills, you name it! So today BODYFLOW. Yep, it does the body good.
Trust me, after a day of listing or resistance type training you need a good yoga based class, or at least stretch!

Tonight the COLTS play and Jaydun and I will be watching :)

It all comes down to the core....

Core conditioning tongiht :) I am looking forward to it, mostly because the next day my abs feel tight and sore, which in theory means I don't have to work them for a while right?

So the next part of nutrition action were the BEANS......                              The winner is: SoyBeans!
Surprised? I was! I was glad to hear though because I love snacking on edamame with sea salt. Perfect munch when you arent really hungry but you need SOMETHING in your mouth :)
1. Soybeans
2. Pinto Beans
3. Chickpeas (awesome in a salad)
4. Lentils
5. Black eyed-peas
6. Pink, Navy, Black, White
7. Lima, kidney

Interesting...at least I thought so!

With that said I just got a huge package Dr. McDougall's at Right Foods
2 boxes of natural organic oatmeal!
5 big cup soup: Split Pea, Tortilla, Curry, Lentil Couscous, and Tamale
I am really looking forward to the Lentil Couscous!
8 Ready to serve cartons: Black bean, Vegetable, Split Pea, Chunky Tomato, Red pepper tomato, Minestrone, and Lentil.

Needless to say we are set for the winter (for a while at least)!

I will take pictures and review them as they are slurped up....

Right now I am about to start working on my home-made gift for Jaydun.
We decided to each make a home-made gift in addition to our other gifts :) It is our first Christmas being married! Time flies....

Nutrition Action

This is probably one of my favorite Newsletters!
I got this booklet in the mail that rates the healthiest vegetables, fruits, grains, beans, meats, and cereals!
I am going to post one of each section a day and today is.....VEGGIES!
I have to say I LOVE veggies. To be honest my favorite is Broccoli and Winter squash. BUT I can make myself try anything if I make a concoction (which I am known for)

Score/ calories/ vit K/ Lutein/ vit C/ Potassium/Fiber
That is how they did the analysis of each Food. Very Interesting.
I guess I will be making more Kale Chips and adding kale to soups :)

If you can't see them let me know or ask any questions.
Kale is #1...Spinach #2...then pretty much all the rest of leafy greens....
Canned pumpkin, sweet potatoe, broccoli....

TOMORROW are the BEANS...which one do you think are the best (most nutrient dense) I think you will be suprised :)

Holiday Whole Foods!

Forgot one last thing! TOMORROW Whole Foods has a holiday tasting fair.
I am not sure if it is every store but it is worth checking!
Holiday samples throughout the store.
Yes right after the kickboxing we are hitting up Whole Foods....hopefully for some delicious eats!

Fun Friday

This is going to be short BUT you should make exercise FUN.
How so?
Intervals are my new favorite thing. Pick 3 or 4 of yours favorite machines at the gym.
Treadmill, Elliptical, Bike, Stairs, Rower......the list goes on.
Do 5 min. of each machine and switch to the next.
Do 2 or 3 rounds (depending on how long you want your total workout)
The last minute of each set go hard (faster than normal)
I can tell you that you will be sweating and will not be BORED.
This helps my boredom of working out in a gym since it is so COLD outside!
Then do core and back work (with obliques)
Planks, Side planks, Supermans, and some heel digs.
Yep covered it all.
THEN STRETCH! my favorite part :)
Swan pose is my ultimate favorite stretch. Especially for the IT band (for you runners and walkers)
If you dont know what the stretch is, google it or ask me!

Tomorrow Jaydun and I are going to try out some kickboxing (martial arts studio)
HMMMM. Yes this shall be interesting and I will take photos of before and after.
With our comments of course!
I am already gearing up to be completely sore and beat!

It is 20 degrees out at the moment with crazy wind that shakes the windows!
Taught Total Tone this morning and then came back to do laundry and clean.
Finished my almond butter :( guess it is time to go get a new jar...trip to Trader Joes!

Practiced BodyFlow once again and think I have the new release down already :) I guess this cold weather is good for practicing, because it is the only thing to do inside!

I have alot of really good products to review soon and I am very excited about them! I have to figure out how to add tabs and all that jazz so it is easier to click and read!

Tomorrow the High is 19 degrees. BRRRR....going to make shrimp stiry fry with extra spicy sauce.
I miss this woman. AWOT.
This was after the Baltimore half marathon....I am thinking we just might have to do the INDY minimarathon in May....

Clean :)

Dentist appointment was yesterday and teeth are clean as can be! No cavities! Jaydun was not so clean.....two cavities :( He got them taken care of this morning and is numb on both sides.....Then in January he has to get his Wisdom teeth out! Which means I will be taking care of him and making plenty of smoothies (with amazing grass of course).

It snowed here in Indianapolis, which was our first of the season! Only about half an inch but it still covered everything and was nice to wake up to a white covering outside!

Been practicing the new BodyFlow and LOVE it! If you have never tried it you need to...or at least some form of thai chi, pilates, or yoga. The benefits are amazing (allow yourself 2 weeks to see!) . I  am hooked on all three. If I don't get it in at least 3 times a week my body gets tight. I teach core conditioning tonight and will do plenty of planks, double leg stretches, back work and obliques. Last week I was so incredibly sore, but will get adjusted after I get into it I am sure.

I have a new product coming my way called Flackers! They look amazing and the nutrition facts are even better. Essential omega fats, tons of fiber, lignens and protein. (obviously with the main ingredient being Flaxseed) They have them at whole foods, which we actually went to today. Got some more Kale, Kind bars, Salmon and tuna burgers, Stirfry and Synergy :)

Got a phone call with Flackers to talk about promoting in stores for displays! Until then sippin on some Vanilla coffee :)

Flackers contest coming up!!

Its the weekend :)

Just got done practicing the new BodyFlow 47 and LOVE it.
Jaydun and I went through it last night after a chilly walk (25 degrees) and it was actually the perfect thing to do before we veg out at night! Made veggie bean soup last night in the crockpot and realized I need to put that sucker into good use this winter! The seven day forecast is all in the 30's! BRRRRRRR!

What does this weekend entail?
Football games (lookin forward to Alabama and Florida)
Maybe ice skating?
Hopefully printing off our wedding pictures to put in our albums (way too many pictures!)
Christmas cards
Turkey Meatballs!!!!!
and some other warm food....probably oatmeal, omelets, hot chocolate?
Any good ideas?

The winner of the SYNERGY contest is........Shelley!

More contests to come so keep on checking in :)

Oh ya...really good start to the day....I had a Berry Superfood Bar and it was perfect with my morning coffee :) I really am hooked on all of the products, but my favorite is chocolate superfood mix, and I am growing very fond of the bars, especially when I am in a rush or on the go!

Had to bust out the Kitchen Aid after lunch. It is rainy and cold outside! Thank God I have classes to teach because the weather is no motivation to go out! This morning I taught Total Tone  and this evening I teach Cardio Circuits (which I LOVE). Last night was core conditioning and I am SORE! Have not done that much abs in a long time!

Thanks to  OH NUTS I get to have more nuts to eat and cook with!
Yep: walnuts, almonds, and cashews
I love walnuts and almonds but I never got into cashews...who knows I might like them?
They are all natural and a good way to get in the healthy fats (walnuts have omega 3!)
I am on a nut kick.
Yes I still have my greensuperfood everyday and I think I am hooked. If you have any questions about the product feel free to email me! cndunlevy@gmail.com

Off to teach Cardio Circuit then meet jaydun there :)

Back home again in Indiana

Just got back from teaching BodyFlow and had lunch. It is December 1st already...where did the time go?
My two nieces getting in the bath!
We had a nice long trip back from Virginia and are now back at home. Thankful to have such family and able to see them on the holidays. Christmas is in North Carolina!

The high on thursday is 30! AHHH! I guess winter is coming and I will get sick of it after a week!
I am doing laundry and cleaning while snackin and listening to christmas music! Then later I teach a core conditioning class and then hopefully cuddling up to a movie with jaydun (yes my favorite thing to do).

I also have to go pick up some presents this afternoon! I have a problem...when I get a gift for someone I want to tell them right away what it is because I am so excited about it! I guess I will have to wait.....

The SYNERGY giveaway is still going on and ends on Friday....What are your christmas traditions?

Happy Holidays and thankful Jesus was born so we could celebrate such an amazing event.
